[The sound flickers out again; his footsteps are silent as they move through the forest, until they come to a scattering of what looks like some cross between chard and lettuce, the leaves a very dark green]

[ childe changes into a fox and leaps onto his shoulder, letting him bring him to the small clearing of strange flowers. he hops off and changes back, setting a hand on his hip as he gazes down on it. ] Unfortunately not. But if it grows up in the cold, then it shouldn't be too temperamental. [ famous last worlds. ] I want to bring some of it back with me.

Sure thing. It grows pretty good, if you get the roots.

[He bends to do just that, unhitching a tool from a metal harness strapped to his thigh to dig them out]

[ childe moves across from him and kneels, digging a circle around the plant, so eddie can more easily get to its roots. ]

[He pulls out a little square of cloth to wrap around the roots and ties it off, keeping the dirt in]

[It's like he's used to taking live plant samples or something]

They grow flowers out the middle if you keep em long enough.

You can get seeds from those.

[ nods. ] I'll be able to make a small garden then. I may owe you more liquor after all of this, haha.

It helps to have em close to home.
