It hurt way way more getting my Achilles tendons slashed. Getting my neck snapped because she was so fast was like a really hard jerk the wrong way and then nothing. [ he shrugs. ]
They were painful for you but you're still fine because you have more experience with it, you're saying?
Nothing is ever going to be as bad as the first death I experienced, so, yea, Iām not doing nearly as bad as I look following something like that. But now you have a baseline⦠so you can accurately say youāre fine or not fine. But this time⦠eh, this isnāt exactly a fun topic to talk about hm?
There's slight conflict of interest despite having the same goal and being ultimately united, and I don't know how to approach it. Ali and Zhongli-sensei are on one side, Dva and Hurricane are on the other.
Everyone wants to protect those important to them, but their ideas of what that means are different. It may not be exactly bad to have these differences, so long as we can compromise, but I'm not sure if that's possible, either.
I guess I'll start by asking what these two sides are, since all of this is pretty vague. Having a common goal is definitely a good start, and, like you said, as long as everybody is open to compromising, then you shouldn't have too much of a problem.
I'm going to assume they want to primarily protect other people whereas Zhongli and Alisaie want to protect Heart? They've been here a long time, right, and it's probably pretty difficult for them to ignore all the connections they've made. That's not to say they shouldn't protect themselves, but they're probably better at giving than taking.
But... it also feels like a lack of self-worth, too, I guess? That is what has me worried the most. They want to give and give, but none of their connections want them to be the one to always take the bullet. That's hard on those important to them, too.
I want them to love themselves more because a lot of people care about them, including the rest of their team.
Hurricane and Dva are also very... passionate. Logic doesn't guide them like Zhongli-sensei and Ali. How do I deal with something like that? When we were in the ghost room, it felt so hard-worked into them.
On one hand, I found their courage and instant determination to protect at all costs admirable. ... On the other hand, it was a ghost, what did they think not hiding would do? They drew their weapons like it was something they could fight against, but...
We caused Tsukasa a lot of heartache, and Venti and Rye got killed, too. I just wonder if we could have all gotten out alive if we scattered and hid instead of just being out in the open.
Heart Weapons are powerful, so perhaps they could have done something, but all of that death and disaster shouldn't fall on their shoulders. You, Rye, and Venti died because you didn't hide. It's not DVa and Hurricane's job to make sure you don't do something stupid. If they'd like to sacrifice themselves to try to fight a ghost, then let them. You three got yourselves killed, because you didn't do the logical thing.
If you had all hidden and let them do their thing, then they could have seen that there was no point to it, and then perhaps the survivor of the two would have hidden the following round.
So, tell me, why didn't you three hide? If you were already feeling like fighting a ghost wasn't going to do anything, then to what end was standing there? For moral support. [ rolls his eyes. ] It's not like two of you, Venti and Rye, could have done anything with their abilities, and you seem to think the idea was stupid to start... so go on, I'm listening, why didn't you do what you thought was right?
[ he considers ] I guess I don't know much about Heart Weapons, then.
...That's true. [ Concerning them not being responsible. but he doesn't really like the answer of letting them do something "stupid." ]
Moral support? Hmm... I guess. I can't just abandon them to their fate because they did something illogical. They're important to me. What if they were right and needed help? What if I was able to notice something that would get them to change their minds?
Are you saying I should leave them to do their own if I don't agree with their decisions?
Moral support... [ he just laughs. ] You three are as much to blame as them. And just how would you have helped in that scenario? Pat them on the back? You failed to convince them, because that's just how they are, so let them be how they are, and don't join in on the stupid.
[ totally not amused. ] Oh, okay, so you would let one of your closer friends on another team "be stupid" if you were stuck together in this situation? And you wouldn't feel like shit about it afterwards?
Of course we are. This isn't about blame.
Also, they're not stupid! They just have learned to go about handling situations differently.
[ annoyed. ] No, but I don't want everyone around me dying, either. I'm trying to understand where they are coming from.
No? If I can't reason with them, then I'm not going to throw my life away. And I think all I'd feel is disappointment, honestly. I think this is more about... purpose. And theirs is self sacrifice for whatever good there is at the time, and there's nothing wrong with that when it's just them. You can't expect everybody to throw themselves on the proverbial blade. Like you, for instance, you have to reunite with your sister back home, so what is dying and getting corrupted going to do, ..? Nothing.
...that's the nature of this place and it sucks. You can't win. You can only find ways to cope with the bullshit you'll inevitably face. It's either you dying and them feeling bad or them dying and you feeling bad.
ā¦thatās not true. Maybe theyāll come around, or play a bit safer during certain games when their lives arenāt the only ones on the line. Heart has been trying more, yeah, so itās not a hopeless situation.
It seems like it... but fair isn't the right word. The games are made to force hard decisions and usually only a small handful of people can win by design.

It's not. What else do you want to talk about? Anything?

I love them all very much, they're incredibly important to me.
[ ...but...
he just leaves it that, looking a bit thoughtful as he clearly has more to say. ]
